New Single - Dance me to the End of Love

I’m so really proud to share with you my new single Dance me to the End of Love, a song close to my heart by the late Leonard Cohen.

Why is this song so close to my heart? Let me share two stories with you!

When my daughters were young, 10 & 7, Friday night was “Le party en famille” and they got to choose the music. I swear to you, it was either Loreena McKennitt or Mister Cohen, even at that young age they knew how to pick a rebel out of a line up. My girls, huh?

“Dance me” was special... when the “lei, lei, lei’s came at the end, we would all sing our hearts out together and dance. It always had a sweet place in my heart. Beautiful memories!

Did you know I worked with Leonard Cohen in 1985? He co-wrote the film: “Night Magic” with Lewis Furey … a crazy fantasy with many fabulous actors and dancers. I played Stardust, an angel. Yes, can you believe it? We did most of the shooting at night, on Montreal rooftops, in the fall… brrrrrr.... Every morning at around 6am, when we were cold and tired, completely toasted and frozen… Leonard would arrive, dressed in his black suit, black shirt and black tie and the famous hat… so mysterious, so elegant, so smart, so intimidating. I could not speak English in those days… I was so shy, I know it’s a stretch. I wish I knew he spoke French.

I hope you will like my cover. And as today we’re remembering his passing, I think he would like our take on it… Leonard always spoke about how honoured he was when other singers would perform his songs.
